Judo and Jiu-Jitsu Programs Coach
(Judo Black Belt, Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt)
Mike began his martial arts journey at the age of 9. By 10, he was part of his district team, and at 12, he joined the Hong Kong Judo National Team. He moved to Canada at 15.
At 14, Mike achieved a World Ranking List (WRL) position of #98 to 123 while competing against 16 to 21-year-olds at the 2019 Hong Kong Junior Asian Cup, his final competition before relocating to Canada. He also represented Hong Kong internationally, competing twice in Korea and once in Japan.
From ages 15 to 18, Mike took time away from the mats to focus on powerlifting and bodybuilding. He returned to grappling at 18 through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he continues to train to this day.
Since returning, Mike has found competitive success, most recently earning silver in the All-Level Absolute Brown/Black Belt division. Over the past few years, he has embraced the complexity of submission grappling and discovered a passion for teaching. Sharing knowledge has not only brought him joy but also reinforced his own understanding of the art.
